İmam Mâtürîdî ve Alvin Plantinga'da kötülük problemine sunulan çözüm önerileri

Abstract

Kötülük problemi, ateistlerin Tanrı aleyhine geliştirdikleri en güçlü delillerden biridir. Özellikle Tanrı’nın “iyi” oluşu dikkate alındığında problemin zorluğu daha belirgin bir şekilde hissedilmektedir. Tezimizin amacı kötülük probleminde ispatlamak istenen “Tanrı-kötülük zıtlığının” başarılı bir şekilde kanıtlanmadığını ortaya koymaya çalışan çözüm önerileri incelemektir. Bu doğrultuda, Ebû Mansûr el-Mâtürîdî (ö. 333/944) ve Alvin Plantinga’nın (d. 1935) çözüm önerileri tartışılacaktır. Bu iki teologun argümanları betimlendikten sonra çözüm önerileri değerlendirmeye tabi tutulacak ve neticesinde birbiriyle karşılaştırılacaktır. Yapılacak değerlendirme ve karşılaştırma sonucunda Mâtürîdî ve Plantinga tarafından sunulan çözüm önerilerinin felsefî anlamda başarılı bir örgüye sahip oldukları, iki farklı noktada birbiriyle ayrıştıkları ve bir noktada benzerlik gösterdikleri ortaya çıkacaktır.

The problem of evil is undoubtedly one of the strongest arguments atheists have advanced for the non-existence of God. The difficulty of the problem becomes even more conspicuous when the “goodness” of God is taken into account. The aim of this thesis is to examine some arguments designed to show the inaccuracy of the inherent claim of the problem of evil, which is that God and evil cannot coexist. To this end, the arguments proposed by Abū Mansūr al-Māturīdī (d. 333/944) and Alvin Plantinga (b. 1932) will be discussed throughout this thesis. After exploring the arguments of the two theologians, their proposed solutions will be evaluated and then compared with each other. In the end, I shall argue that the arguments presented by both al-Māturīdī and Plantinga stand firmly in terms of their philosophical claim. Furthermore, I shall show that these two arguments are different from each other in two important aspects but similar in an essential one.
