Osmanlı kayıtlarında Mimar Sinan

Abstract

Osmanlı literatüründe, ya da daha genel bir bakışla Orta Çağ’dan beri Anadolu-Türk kültür ortamında, sanatçıların yaşamlarına veya eserlerine dair kayıtlara nadiren rastlanır ve bu durum, çağdaşı Batı dünyasıyla kıyaslandığında çok farklılaşan bir görünüm arz eder. Türk mimarlık tarihinin en ünlü ustası olan Sinan özelinde konuyu derinleştirdiğimizde de tablo değişmemektedir. Doğu ve Batı dünyalarının sanata ve sanatçıya yönelik tutumlarını anlamlandırmak, kuşkusuz dönemsel düşünce dünyalarını çözümlemekle mümkündür. 16. yüzyıldan itibaren Osmanlı metinlerinde bu konuya dair ancak yüzeysel bilgiler sunulduğunu görürüz; 20. yüzyıla doğru ve yüzyılın ilk yarısı boyunca, daha çok değinilen bir konu haline gelse de, hala birçok aydınlatıcı bilgiden yoksun bir literatürden bahsedebiliyoruz. Bu noktada, konunun geri plana itilmesinin sosyolojik koşullarla mı, yoksa kasıtlı bir ihmalle mi açıklanacağı sorusu gündeme gelmektedir. Dolayısıyla bu yazı, 16. yüzyıldan günümüze Sinan olgusuna yaklaşım tarzlarını gerekçeleriyle birlikte incelemektedir.

In the Ottoman literature, or more generally, in the Anatolian-Turkish culture since the Middle Ages, records of the lives or works of artists are rarely encountered, and this situation presents a quite different appearance compared to the contemporary Western world. The situation does not change when we deepen the subject for Sinan, the most famous master of Turkish architectural history. Understanding the attitudes of the Eastern and Western cultures towards art and the artist is undoubtedly possible by analyzing their world views. Since the 16th century, we see that only superficial information on this subject is presented in Ottoman texts. Towards the 20th century and during the first half of the century, we can still speak of a literature that lacks enlightening information, although it has become a subject that has been addressed more. At this point, the question arises whether the pushing of the subject to the background will be explained by sociological conditions or deliberate negligence. Therefore, this article examines the approaches to the phenomenon of Sinan from the 16th century to the present.
