Özet
This study explores how Islamic secondary schools in various parts of the United States seek to develop positive character, morals and civic engagement in their students. Extensive interviews with students, parents, and school staff at eight schools have been carried out along with classroom observations. This study is especially relevant because of much-publicized tensions and the growing negative rhetoric over the situation of Muslim minorities in this and other Western nations. In this context, the findings of the study have been highly encouraging and consistent with the experience of other second-generation immigrants to the United States over the past two centuries.
