Globalization has brought changes in every aspect of human lives and education process had a huge impact on itself. Globally the movement of students tented from east to west where students prefer to travel and get enrolled in modern and advanced universities of west and tried to adapt the language, culture and their education system. Such trend had been seen in Turkey also in recent times and the universities in Turkey had seen a huge rise of enrolment of international students. The strength of International student's in higher education within the Turkey has increased considerably in the last few years with the help of different Scholarship Program. Every year, the number of foreign students come to get higher education in Turkey and they go through an adaptation process to new University life. Mostly, in early researches around the world revealed that international students face many challenges such as academic challenges, social isolation, and cultural adjustment. The academic challenges include student's communication with their Teachers, their communication with classmates and with other staff members in the universities, different grading system, difference in university norms and regulations, Multicultural classes etc. On another hand, they also face social isolation especially when they are engaged in different social activities. Culturally, they face the differences in the way of thinking and ideological clashes within the new country. In order to overcome these hurdles, challenges and barriers students have to adopt different resources that mainly are derived from the universities and outside universities. In this research work the international student's experiences will be studied in various settings such as in academics, Socio-cultural and personal settings. This research believes that if the faculties, students and other staff members of the universities had a better understanding of these student's academic challenges and needs then an effective support in campus and services can be provided to these students. Also, the universities need to be well prepared and aware of in order to meet students' needs not only academically but also socially and culturally. This research will suggest some preparations which are needed to be made by the universities and scholarship agencies such as International student's offices in universities so the process of adjustment for foreign students becomes easier. The mixed method research design will be used as a study design. For the quantitative part the date will be collected through Demographic Information sheet and International Students Adjustment Scale. In Qualitative study, a focus group interview process will be used in order to get the in depth information and also qualitative case study method will be adopted in order to have in depth understanding of issues such as academic, socio-cultural and personal adaptation faced by international students studying in Turkey. In light of the research the recommendations for the universities and all scholarship providing offices will be generated and how they can assist and help international students. The study will be unique of its kind as there are not much researches done in this field within Turkey and there is a very strong need of it. It will help researchers, policy makers and concerned authorities to understand issues related to international students in Turkey and how unique social and cultural environment of Turkey effects them. In addition, it will give insights of how Turkey and its academic life is being perceived around the globe and can suggest steps if need to improve it.

The relevance of this work is determined by the real problems of foreign students’ adaptation to the educational environment of Turkish Universities. Every year more and more foreign students come to Turkey to get higher education, and every foreign student goes through an objective process of adaptation to University life. In this study, international students’ experiences were examined in academic and socio-cultural settings. Through qualitative interviews, the findings revealed that international students deal with academic challenges, social isolation, and cultural adjustment. Specifically, academic challenges included communication with professors, classmates, and staff. Consequently, they have to deal with social isolation when engaging in different group activities. Culturally, they need to confront the different ways of thinking and doing in the Turkey. In order to overcome these challenges, students have adopted some reasonable resources that mainly are derived from the universities and outside universities to overcome these challenges. Thus, as demonstrated in this study, having a better understanding of these students’ academic challenges, university faculty and staff can recognize students’ needs and effectively offer supportive campus resources and services. The university needs to be prepared to meet students not only academically but also socially and culturally. International students change from members of majority to members in minority in the host country. Arthur (2004) indicated that foreign students face distinct difficulties when compared to local students. International students deal with a wide variety of transition issues and experience a lot of adjustment concerns. They have problems that are different, some in kind and some in degree, from the host country students. Common problems that international students face include acculturative stress, language-related difficulties, cultural shock, racial discrimination, homesickness, isolation and loss of social support. Psycho-educational groups are structured by some central theme and designed to help people develop specific skills, understand certain themes, or progress through difficult life transitions. Group approach to counseling with international students may positively impact adjustment difficulties and psychological concerns of international students in the following ways: increasing social support and interpersonal learning, decreasing isolation and loneliness, providing a safe and normalizing environment and a non-judgmental place to practice language skills, helping group members learn practical information about living in a certain state. This paper aims to describe a psycho-educational support group which was designed and implemented in Ankara, Turkey, for some common challenges international students face and most of which relate to cross-cultural adjustment. Psycho-educational groups are structured by some central theme and designed to help people develop specific skills, understand certain themes, or progress through difficult life transitions. The purpose of the study is to endorse psycho-educational group as an effective treatment modality for adjustment problems of international students. The psycho-education group was designed to help foreign students to better adjustment by imparting information, sharing experience with others, feeling similarity, and improving communication ability during sessions, and helping people learn how to create their own support systems outside of the group setting. A Psycho-educational group program was conducted in 8 sessions during 8 weeks, with 8 different topics. Each session lasted from 75 to 90 minutes. From what we know this was the first psycho-education group conducted in Turkey regarding international students. program and initial stage. Basically, advancement in education technology tried hard to utilize modern technology in classrooms in order to enhance learning, improve learning environment and it revolutionized the classrooms. In this technological advancement it bought huge positive drift in learning outcomes but on another side, it bought many distractions. One of the common distractions during lectures nowadays is use of smartphones in classrooms during lectures. Teachers often find students using smartphones during there lectures and no doubt even its use had been limited strictly in the classroom policy and norms. Such kind of use of smartphone during the lectures is termed as Phubbing. The Word Phubbing is new and can be defined as the action of ignoring or snubbing someone during one-to-one interaction or in any social events by using smartphones, whether it is checking Facebook, using WhatsApp or using any other chatting applications and attempting multitasks (Nazir.,2016). This phenomenon is nowadays very common in every walk of life and it intrude in classrooms and influences teachers as well as learning environment. Thus, this kind of behavior done by students during lectures can be termed as classroom phubbing. This study will try to understand the influence of phubbing on teachers, their emotional responses, attitudes and whether it had any effect on the teacher’s motivation. The modern technology and its inventions in current societies are affecting the childhood experience. Outdoor play habits are vanishing fast and more isolated, technological gaming and digital life is disconnecting children from natural world and its learnings. The outdoor play activities is defined as an open and constantly changing environment, where it is possible to experience freedom, gross and boisterous movements, and contact with natural elements. While playing outside, children benefit from being exposed to sunlight, natural elements, and open air, which contributes to bones development, stronger immune system and physical activity (Dyment, 2008; Bilton, 2010). The technology and its advancements had persuaded every field and it had deeply penetrated the child rearing practices also. No doubt, it had bought positive impact on quality of life but also it had huge impact on children and one of the key areas is the outdoor playing habits. Abundance of research has been done around outdoor play and the positive influence it is having on early childhood learning and development. During their growth, they develop their motor skills, and focus on their peers by engage more and more in play activities that expand their knowledge of the world around them. Many researchers concluded that maximum learning outcomes happen in the environment that allows them to explore, discover and play. Many researchers supported the importance of play in child’s healthy development (Pellegrini., 2007, 1998; Ginsburg, 2007). The immense positive influence outdoor playing used to have on child, his round development is the core focus of this paper, and it will explore the researches and knowledge we are having regarding psychosocial developments and play.Yayın Emotional abuse, emotional competence and self-concept as correlates of academic achievement of boys and girls(InMind Support, 2020) Nazir, Thseen; Nazir, Thseen; Eğitim Bilimleri Fakültesi, Rehberlik ve Psikolojik Danışmanlık BölümüAs we know in this modern society adolescence period or we can say the period of expectations are prone to depression and frustration. They get easily frustrated and depressed, either they are getting poor grades or being scolded by parents or teachers or having any other issues in their peer circles. They face a number of internal and external struggles. They feel stressed due to parental, environmental and social pressures. All these problems are related to each other directly or indirectly. And these problems have certain consequences. One of the main consequences is their low academic score. What were the reasons behind their low academic score or what were its other consequences on their daily life. This study is an effort to answer these questions .The present study was directed on 300 adolescents (boys n =150, & girls n =150) using stratified sampling method. Different scales were used to measure each variable of the study. Results revealed that boys and girls significantly differ in terms of emotional abuse as boys were found to be highly emotionally abused than girls. Also results show that significant difference was found between boys and girls in terms of their emotional competency, girls are found to be emotionally competent than boys. Our findings show that boys and girls differ significantly in terms of academic achievement. Boys are found to be low in their academic achievement whereas girls perform better in their academics. The study also confirm that boys and girls significantly differ in terms of different dimensions of emotional abuse i.e. rejection, terrorizing, isolation, ignoring and corruption.
