Bir inanç aşaması olarak Haniflik

Abstract

Haniflik kavramı; çoğu Müslüman âlim tarafından İslam öncesi döneme kadar genelde Arap yarımadasında varlığını sürdüren Hz. İbrahim’in Tevhid Dini olarak kabul edilir. Bu makalede psiko-tarih / psiko-biyografi ve dilbilimsel çözümlemeler yaparak, Hanifliğin bir dinin adı olmayıp, bir sıfat olduğu tezi ileri sürülmektedir. Hanifliği psikolojik açıdan elealan bu teze göre, Haniflik bir din olmaktan ziyade, bedensel/zihinsel/ duygusal/sosyal ve spiritüel anlamda büyümekte olan bir bireyin dine yönelik tutumudur. Kavram aslında psikolojik bir haleti ruhiyeye işaret etmektedir. Haniflikte dinî bir anlamdan ziyade, psiko-sosyal bir bağlam ön plandadır. Gerek kavramın etimolojisi, gerek Hz. İbrahim’in hayatı, gerekse Kur’ân-ı Kerim deki kullanımı dikkate alındığında, Hanifliğin manevi /dini gelişimde bir aşama, modern psikolojinin vurguladığı ergenlik ruhunu yansıtan bir gelişimsel dönüm noktası, bir moratoryum durumu ve bir kimlik arayış ve inşa süreci olduğu görülür.

The concept of Hanif, traditionally considered by most Muslim scholars as the name of a monotheist religion, or a cult, existed in pre-İslamic Arabia. In this paper, by using psycho-historical, psycho-biographical, and linguistic analysis, I argue against this traditional understanding that Hanif is a name (of a religion), rather, that it is an adjective, an attribute of personal developmental phase. It is not a religion, but a religious attitude expressed by individuals who grow on a personal and spiritual level that involves questioning the existing traditional religious views and ways of life. It is a psychological state of being; the term has more of a psycho-social connotation than a religious one. Considering the etymology of the word and the life of the Prophet Abraham, which is celebrated as a Hanif by the Qur’ân, being Hanif, hence, seems to be a stage of spiritual growth, a significant turning point in one’s spiritual journey, a developmental character which corresponds to the spiritual phase of adolescence, a state of moratorium, a crisis of identity, and a quest for meaning that extensively is highlighted by the modern developmental schools of psychology.
