İnsanlık tarihinin en eski yerleşim yerleri arasında bulunan Mescid-i Aksâ ve çevresi Yahudilik ve Hıristiyanlık yanında İslam dini nokta-i nazarından da önemli mekanlar olarak kabul edilmektedir. Önemine binaen İslam dininin iki temel kaynağından gerek Kur’an gerekse hadislerde Kudüs ve çevresi farklı münasebetlerle birçok kez zikredilmiş, bu bölgeye çok sayıda atıflar yapılmıştır. Kur'an ayetleri başta olmak üzere söz konusu bölge hakkındaki diğer naslarda mevcut olan ifadelerle kimi zaman Kudüs ve çevresinde yaşamış veya hayatlarının bir bölümünü burada geçirmiş peygamberlerin kıssalarına işaret edilmektedir. Kimi zaman da ancak bir kısmını saptamış olduğumuz farklı sebeplerden dolayı Mescid-i Aksâ ve çevresi kutsiyet ve bereket ile doğrudan ilişkilendirilmiş ve bölge mukaddes ve mübarek olmakla nitelendirilmiştir. Yine bu bölgede yaşanan bazı hadiselere bir takım mekan içerikli Kur'anî kavramlarla açık ya da kapalı yollarla işaret edilmiştir. Çalışmamızda Kur'an'da Mescid-i Aksâ ve çevresini nitelendiren bütün ayetler saptanacak, klasik ve modern dönem müfessirlerinin bu ayetlerin içerikleri hakkındaki görüşleri belli bir sistematik içinde değerlendirilecektir. Böylece Kur'an'da kendisine çok sayıda atıfta bulunulan bu bölgenin önemi gerekçeleriyle birlikte ortaya konulacaktır.
Masjid al-Aqsa and its surroundings, which are among the oldest settlements in the history of humanity, are considered important places in terms of Judaism and Christianity, as well as Islam. Due to its importance, Jerusalem and its surroundings have been mentioned many times on different occasions, both in the Qur'an and in the hadiths, which are two of the main sources of the religion of Islam, and many references have been made to this region. The expressions present in the Qur'anic verses and other texts about the region in question sometimes point to the stories of the prophets who lived in and around Jerusalem or spent a part of their lives there. Sometimes, due to different reasons, only some of which we have identified, Masjid al-Aqsa and its surroundings are directly associated with holiness and abundance, and the region is characterized as holy and blessed. Again, some events in this region have been pointed out in open or closed ways with some spatial Qur'anic concepts. In our study, all the verses in the Qur'an describing the Masjid al-Aqsa and its surroundings will be determined, and the views of the commentators of the classical and modern periods about the contents of these verses will be evaluated in a certain systematic way. Thus, the importance of this region, to which many references are made in the Qur'an, will be revealed with its justifications.
