| dc.description.abstract | In this thesis, the debates regarding, modernity and gender concerning women’s clothing which, have their roots in the twentieth century are explored, these debates continues to play a role today. Following the case of charsaf and face veiling, how different modernization perspectives are reflected in the arguments of Late Ottoman male intellectuals is one of the topic of thesis. Questions such as how different the Late Ottoman masculinities manifested themselves in the modernization perspectives specific to the veiling and face veiling issue are also discussed. | en_US |
