The viability of the proposed methodology is demonstrated via the sales representatives of Beko, a brand name controlled by Koç Group. We first develop a conceptual framework based on qualitative research methods – in-depth interviews and focus group sessions. We employ the principles of ANP methodology to examine and discover the inter-relationships among the OCBs. This process results in a descriptive model that encapsulates the findings from both qualitative and analytics methods. Necessity, altruism, departmental, compliance, and independence are the underlying dimensions of OCBs found to be the most influential/important. Authorities responsible for energy planning and management have to adjust their strategies according to new and improved alternative solutions based on the sustainability criteria. In this study, we propose an integrated hybrid methodology for the analysis of Turkey’s energy sector using Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis, Analytic Network Process (ANP) process, and weighted fuzzy Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) to formulate and holistically analyze the energy strategy alternatives and priorities. The methodology proposed in this study allowed identifying the relevant criteria and sub-criteria using a SWOT analysis. Then, ANP approach, which is one of the popular multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods, is employed to determine the weights of each SWOT factors and sub-factors. Finally, fuzzy TOPSIS methodology is conducted to prioritize alternative energy strategies. We discuss the obtained results for the development of long-range alternative energy strategies. The results showed that turning the country into an energy hub and an energy terminal by effectively using the geo-strategic position within the framework of the regional cooperation is the most important priority. However, such an endeavor usually involves managing multiple, potentially conflicting objectives. This study proposes a framework that analyzes lean production methods using simulation and data envelopment analysis (DEA) to accommodate the underlying multi-objective decision-making problem. The proposed framework can help identify the most efficient solution alternative by (i) considering the most common lean production methods for assembly line balancing, such as single minute exchange of dies (SMED) and multi-machine set-up reduction (MMSUR), (ii) creating and simulating various alternative assembly line configuration options via discrete-event simulation modeling, and (iii) formulating and applying DEA to identify the best alternative assembly system configuration for the multi-objective decision making. In this study, we demonstrate the viability and superiority of the proposed framework with an application case on an automotive spare parts production system. One of the waste elimination methods is assembly line balancing for lean manufacturing, i.e. Yamazumi. The assembly line balancing is to assign tasks to the workstations by minimizing the number of workstations to the required values. There should be no workstation with the excessively high or low workload, and all workstations must ideally work with balanced workloads. Accordingly, in this study, the axiomatic design method is applied for assembly line balancing in order to achieve maximum output with the installed capacity. In order to achieve this aim, all improvement opportunities are defined and utilized as an output of the study. Computational results indicate that the proposed method is effective to reduce operators’ idle time by 12%, imbalance workload between workstations by 38%, and the total number of workers by 12%. Synergistic use of discrete-event simulation and structural equation modeling allows researchers and practitioners to analyze causal relationships between order-fulfillment characteristics of a supply-chain and retailers’ performance metrics. In this study, we model, simulate, and analyze a two-level supply-chain with seasonal linear demand, and using the information therein, develop a causal model to measure the links/relationships among the order-fulfillment factors and the retailer’s performance. According to the findings, of all the order-fulfillment characteristics of a supply-chain, the forecast inaccuracy was found to be the most important in mitigating the bullwhip effect. Concerning the total inventory cost and fill-rate as performance indicators of retailers, the desired service level had the highest priority, followed by the lead-time and forecast inaccuracy, respectively. To reduce the total inventory cost, the bullwhip effect seems to have the lowest priority for the retailers, as it does not appear to have a significant impact on the fill rate. Drawing on a rich data set obtained from selected case study firms in Pakistan, three MCDM tools, namely, intuitionistic fuzzy decision-making trial and evolution laboratory (IF-DEMATEL), analytic network process (ANP), and simple additive weighting (SAW), are employed to assess the relative importance of BDA capabilities and the relationship of these capabilities with the firm performance. The results show that BDA capabilities are interdependent, and infrastructure capabilities are the highest-ranked among all, followed by management and human resource capabilities, respectively. The SAW results indicate an association between BDA capabilities and firm performance. This study delves into the realm of talent management (TM) in Turkey, where institutional coverage is incomplete and unstable. Drawing on survey data, we explore the conditions under which TM succeeds, supplementing previous research on internal networks by examining the impact of external networks that encompass the entire firm. We find that when firms have closer ties with customers, suppliers and competitors (and hence, the basis for formal network tie building), TM is more prevalent and more likely to be successful. While conventional wisdom in comparative institutional literature suggests that such dense ties might be less effective in emerging markets owing to the absence of advanced complementarities found in mature economies, our study challenges these assumptions. In the eyes of managers, TM is not merely a tool to overcome disadvantages; it is perceived as a source of opportunities. This prompts a critical question: what specific advantages does the emerging economy system confer on firms embracing TM? Drawing on the fundamentals of the resource-based view (RBV), this study proposes a model that examines the effects of the BA adoption on business process performance (BPER) and the mediating role that BPER plays in the relationship between the adoption of BA and firm performance (FP). Based on the data collected from 204 medium- to high-level business executives in various industries, the results of this empirical study indicate that the adoption of BA positively influences BPER. There is also positive relationship between BPER and FP. We found more concentrated ownership, often in the hands of families, led to firms performing better; concentrated ownership means that controlling families bear more of the risks of poor performance. Less predictably, given that the institutional environment is so well attuned to family ownership, we found that mechanisms that accord room for a greater range of voices and interests within and beyond families – larger boards and foreign ownership stakes – seem to also make for positive performance effects. We also noted that increase in cross ownership did not influence market performance, but was negatively associated with accounting performance. Conversely, we found that a higher proportion of family members on boards had no discernable effect on performance. The objectives of this study were to identify the relative importance of factors that impact Employee Social Intrapreneurial Behavior (ESIB) in the manufacturing sector in Albania using an AHP approach and to select the best practice that can improve Employee Social Intrapreneurial Behavior (ESIB) on a company basis in the same sector by merging a linguistic method with the AHP approach. A questionnaire was designed to collect expert viewpoints. A standardized AHP scale ranging from 1 to 9 was used in the questionnaire. Fifteen managers and experts from four important manufacturing companies in Albania (Everest Shpk., Kamëz, Albania; Lufra Shpk., Lushnje, Albania; Ajka Shpk., Lushnje, Albania and F&M Shpk., Tirane, Albania) were contacted, and eleven of them expressed an interest in engaging in our study by ranking the importance of various criteria and sub-criteria. This research aims to explore the relationship between an innovative organizational culture, employee intrapreneurial behaviour, employee job satisfaction, and employee job commitment in the manufacturing sector of Kuwait, a developed economy. Literature reviews analyses core concepts and their associated domains to discover gaps in existing research by examining definitions, dimensions, and relevance. The examination of relevant research identified significant knowledge deficiencies. The framework examines employee social intrapreneurial behaviour by incorporating several aspects such as idea generation, idea promotion, and idea realization. The current study utilized quantitative research methods. The researcher utilized SPSS version 28 to analyses the numerical data collected through a questionnaire to meet the study questions. The questionnaire was distributed using both computerized and self-administered ways to increase the response rate. We have obtained an extensive list of contact names for all manufacturing companies in Kuwait. The study is based on three primary theories: Self Determination Theory, Social Exchange Theory, and Theory of Planned Behaviour. This study aims to develop a new formula to promote a culture of social innovation. The research findings suggest that Employee Social Intrapreneurial Behaviour (ESIB) has a notable influence on manufacturing enterprises in Kuwait. Structural equation modeling is conducted in order to test the research model based on a survey of 241 companies drawn from the database of Turkey’s largest 500 manufacturing companies. The study’s findings indicate that the implementation of OTS mediates the relationships between external knowledge sourcing (EKS) from scientific partners and indirect partners with BP. However, no support is found for the mediation effect of OTS on the link between EKS from institutional partners and BP. This study aims to shed light on the importance of OCM as a strategic approach for enhancing employees’ career trajectories, filling a significant gap in the existing literature. Design/methodology/approach – Using a cross-sectional research design, primary data were gathered through a structured questionnaire administered to a diverse sample of 426 Turkish working adults representing various organizations. The study uses structural equation modelling with AMOS to analyse the direct and indirect relationships within the proposed research model. Findings – The study findings underscore the essential connection between OCM and employees’ career outcomes, revealing its positive influence on subjective career success, employability and innovative work behaviour. Moreover, career capital emerges as a critical intermediary mechanism that mediates the impact of OCM on these career outcomes, further highlighting the strategic significance of OCM practices. Research limitations/implications – It is important to note that this study relies on self-report surveys to gauge employees’ perceptions about their career outcomes and OCM. Additionally, the study data are confined to the Turkish context, which may influence the generalizability of the findings to other contexts. Practical implications – Organizations can bolster career outcomes through strategic investment in OCM. Industries can customize approaches, leveraging insights to optimize workforce potential. Policymakers should integrate career development principles, cultivating a culture of perpetual learning, thus fortifying organizational resilience and fostering sustainable success. Structural equation modeling (SEM) has been applied to a sample of 204 firms in Turkey. We analyze a sample of 2,737 companies across 47 countries from 2009 to 2018 using panel data analysis. Our results suggest that the effect of RE performance can be understood through three phases: policies adopted, targets established, and actions implemented. Interestingly, RE policies negatively impact profitability due to the substantial costs incurred by companies. Moreover, RE-related SDGs are found to affect companies' financial performance adversely. However, environmental factors demonstrate a positive and significant impact on corporate financial performance, which is observed consistently across developed and emerging countries. Furthermore, RE performance targets and actions have a significant positive impact, specifically in developed countries. To do this, a conceptual model is developed to analyze the associations between these suggested variables. Using on a cross-sectional survey, data are collected from 216 supply chain (SC) and production practitioners based in Türkiye who are medium- to senior-level managers. To analyze our theoretical model, we processed our data and model using lavaan package in R. The results show a significant relationship between ADC and SCV. Additionally, both of IS and ST capabilities are found to have a strong mediating effect on the ADC and SCV relationship. The results of this study will provide insight for managers and researchers to prevent the negative effects of SC disruptions due to the high inflation or other type of stress tests. Extant research has investigated the SCV with different crises like COVID-19 pandemic however, the study is the first research that examines SCV under high inflation stress test. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to examine whether environmental and social performance mediates the relationship between environmental management practices and operational performance and whether operational performance mediates the relationship between environmental and social performance and financial performance. Design/methodology/approach Drawing on a data set of 208 firms operating in a wide range of manufacturing industries, the authors test the hypotheses using structural equation modeling. The research context for the study is Turkey, an important emerging market and one of the nexuses of European and Asian supply chains. Findings The findings indicate that all three aspects of sustainability have mutually supportive relationships as demonstrated by positive mediating mechanisms between environmental management practices and operational performance and between environmental and social performance and financial performance. The mediation results correspond with the resource-based view. They indicate that building up capabilities and resources in the form of environmental management practices supports three areas of the triple bottom line and boosts firms' financial performance. Originality/value Research on sustainability is well-established, yet supply chain management research has, thus, far paid insufficient attention to all three aspects. Design/methodology/approach This study performs structural equation modeling using AMOS on survey data collected from 200 Turkish firms operating in multiple industries and sectors. Findings This study finds that leadership in Turkish firms operating in multiple sectors is positively associated with SQM. This study further finds that SQM positively influences Turkish firms' TTC and mediates the roles of SP and leadership in TTC. Research limitations/implications A key research implication from this study relates to the mediating role of SQM in TTC in an emerging economy context. This study highlights that SP and leadership can play an essential role in TTC through the mediating mechanism of SQM. Consequently, SQM emerges as a crucial linking pin in conveying the impact of quality management practices on technology transfer in emerging markets. Practical implications An essential managerial implication of this study relates to the critical roles of leadership, SP and SQM in TTC. For the managers of firms operating in a relatively uncertain emerging context such as Turkey, it is essential to adopt a supportive and empowering leadership style, where open communication and innovative activities are viewed positively and SQM is adopted holistically. Also, SP should be streamlined throughout the firm and followed by SQM to support TTC. Originality/value This paper links the technology (and knowledge) management and the strategy and leadership literature streams by focusing on the mechanisms of technology transfer and delving into the linkages between SQM, leadership, SP and TTC. It specifically presents SP and leadership as precursors to SQM in their joint influence on TTC. Accordingly, this research bridges technology, strategy and leadership research and provides a broader picture of technology transfer that encompasses the joint role of different processes in firms' TTC.
