The impact of internal control system effectiveness on store performance in the retail media sector in the age of sustainability: Case of D&R store
(Bussecon International Academy, 2025) Tekneci, Adnan; Aksoy, Tamer; Yönetim Bilimleri Fakültesi, İşletme Bölümü
This study mainly aimed to examine the impact of the effectiveness of the internal control system on store performance through the example of D&R Store in the retail media sector in Türkiye. In the study, it was investigated whether the effectiveness of the internal control system has a significant and positive effect on the perception of store performance through the COSO internal control components. It was also investigated whether these perceptions differed according to demographic characteristics. Methodologically, a descriptive online survey method including a questionnaire prepared in accordance with the 5-point Likert scale was used to collect data. 302 employees responded to the survey included statements regarding demographic characteristics and COSO’s main internal control components. The data were analyzed with SPSS-22. The study concluded that all COSO internal control components (control environment, risk assessment, control activities, informationcommunication, monitoring) have a positive and significant effect on store’s performance perception. Furthermore, the study revealed that these perceptions differed according to demographic characteristics. While statistically significant differences in perceptions were found according to demographic characteristics such as gender, job position, and years of professional experience, no significant differences were found based on demographic criteria such as age and educational level. The study is considered to contribute to the literature because it is the first study to investigate the impact of the effectiveness of the COSO internal control system components on store performance together with the example of D&R Store in the retail media sector. The study is limited by the selected sample store, number of participants, survey questions-answers, the applied statistical analysis methods and tests. Therefore, in order to reach more general results, it is suggested to expand the studies with more diverse and larger numbers of stores in the retail media sector, employees, survey questions and statistical methods.

[Book Review]: "The Great Disappearance: 31 Ways to Be Rapture Ready"
(Politik Ekonomik ve Sosyal Araştırmalar Merkezi, 2025) Dingyadi, Hassan Usman
David Jeremiah’s “The Great Disappearance: 31 Ways to Be Rapture Ready” is a devotional exploration of Christian eschatology that presents the rapture as a pivotal moment in Christian belief, emphasizing spiritual readiness, moral vigilance, and hope. Rooted in the premillennial dispensational framework, the book draws on biblical passages such as 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 and engages the historical and theological traditions of figures like John Nelson Darby, Augustine, and Irenaeus. While the work effectively communicates complex theological ideas in an accessible manner for lay audiences, it lacks the depth of scholarly engagement typical of academic theology. Ethnographically, it offers insight into contemporary evangelical religiosity and how eschatological beliefs shape daily faith and practice, while hermeneutically, it demonstrates how biblical texts are interpreted and applied devotionally. Though its scholarly contribution is limited, the book remains a valuable resource for understanding modern evangelical spirituality and serves as an accessible pastoral guide to living in anticipation of Christ’s return.

Cyber attacks: Are they the terrorism of the future?
(Yeditepe Üniversitesi, 2026) Nasrat, Qaisar
While technological advances have encompassed every aspect of our daily lives and provided great advantages, cyberattacks have also become an increasingly critical concern, raising questions about their potential role in terrorism. This article examines the intersection of cyberattacks and terrorism, focusing on the potential of cyberterrorism as a new form of terrorism. While traditional terrorism has been associated with physical violence and harm, the increasing reliance on technology in critical infrastructures has provided terrorists with new ways to carry out serious cyberattacks without the need for physical presence and at low cost. In addition, this article examines recent high-profile cyberattacks targeting critical infrastructure, financial systems, and government organizations, highlighting the similarities between traditional terrorist acts and cyberterrorism in terms of purpose, intent, impact, and psychological impact on the population. Thus, cyberterrorism is not only a tool for political violence, but also a method of inflicting economic, social, and psychological harm, presenting significant challenges to governments and global security. The article examines the legal and ethical implications of cyberattacks as a form of terrorism, as well as exploring future trends that include the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in cyber threats. It concludes by arguing that cyberattacks are set to become a key element of terrorism in the future, with significant implications for global security, and offers important insights into their future trajectory.
