A discursive analysis of Q&As on alternative spiritualities in Turkish online forums
(Palgrave Macmillan, 2026) Erkoç Baydar, Tuba; Altuncu Kaan, Safa Nur; İslami İlimler Fakültesi
In recent years, alternative spiritualities have become increasingly visible in Turkish society, with individuals turning to practices such as yoga and Reiki to find peace, motivation, and happiness. While some studies have explored the nature of these spiritualities and their relationship to religion, and others have treated spiritual practices as case studies, a significant gap remains concerning the questions individuals pose about alternative spiritualities to religious authorities. In this chapter, we draw on a dataset collected from Turkish religious discussion forums—specifically questions and answers about yoga and Reiki. Our aim is to map the contours of spiritual seeking in the Turkish context. We critically analyze the attitudes and approaches of both questioners and responders, paying particular attention to the religious references invoked by the latter. This research enriches our understanding of the role that alternative spiritualities play within Türkiye’s broader religious and social landscape. Moreover, by examining fatwas (religious rulings) related to Reiki and yoga, it illuminates the formal religious positions on these practices as they are discussed in the Turkish context.
An integrated fuzzy decision-making framework for the evaluation of electric buses in public transportation: A case study in Istanbul, Türkiye
(Emerald Publishing, 2026) Tatar, Veysel; Ayvaz, Berk; Nebati, Emine Elif; Tunaboylu, Bahadır; Zaim, Selim; Yönetim Bilimleri Fakültesi, İşletme Bölümü
Rapid urbanization and environmental concerns have accelerated the transition to sustainable public transportation alternatives in place of traditional internal combustion engine vehicles. Electric buses (EBs) are emerging as a competitive alternative due to their economic, social and environmental advantages. This study focuses on providing practical guidance for integrating sustainable EB solutions into urban transit networks. In this study, an integrated approach is proposed, encompassing a combined picture fuzzy logarithmic decomposition of criteria importance (PF-LODECI) and picture fuzzy alternative ranking technique based on adaptive standardized intervals (PF-ARTASI) methods to support the evaluation and selection of EBs under uncertainty. Unlike prior studies that often focus solely on economic or environmental criteria, this research adopts a comprehensive perspective by incorporating economic, technical, environmental, and social dimensions. A real-world case study in Türkiye is conducted; five electric bus alternatives are evaluated based on four main criteria and twenty-seven sub-criteria. Furthermore, the stability and consistency of the results obtained are confirmed through the implementation of a sensitivity analysis. In addition, the findings offer insights into the economic and welfare implications of electric bus adoption in large urban public transport systems, particularly in terms of cost efficiency, externality reduction, and service quality improvements.
Immersive learning in aviation: Integrating virtual, augmented, and mixed reality into cabin crew training
(Elsevier, 2026) Yıldırım, Nilgün; Tatoğlu, Ekrem; Keski̇n, Halit; Esen, Emel; Yönetim Bilimleri Fakültesi, İşletme Bölümü
This study examines how immersive technologies, including virtual, augmented, and mixed reality, can enhance cabin crew training and operational readiness in civil aviation. Drawing on established learning theories, the research investigates how immersive environments improve procedural accuracy, situational awareness, crisis management, and teamwork compared with traditional classroom and simulator-based instruction. A phenomenological design based on in-depth semi-structured interviews with 30 active cabin crew members served as the primary methodological approach, supported by a systematic review of prior studies on extended reality applications in aviation. The interviews provided detailed insights into participants’ perspectives on immersive training, revealing how these technologies foster confidence, coordination, and preparedness for high-pressure flight scenarios. The findings show that immersive environments enable realistic and repeatable crisis simulations that strengthen both cognitive and behavioral learning outcomes, while also highlighting challenges related to equipment access, user comfort, and simulation fidelity. Sustainable integration requires ongoing instructor development, investment in high-quality infrastructure, and clear regulatory guidance. The study contributes to aviation management by demonstrating that incorporating immersive technologies into cabin crew education strengthens safety culture, enhances workforce digital proficiency, and supports the long-term professional development of aviation personnel.
Financial literacy in Türkiye: A bibliometric analysis
(Muhasebe ve Finansman Öğretim Üyeleri Bilim ve Araştırma Derneği, 2026) Baba, Murtala Mustapha; Gümüş, Nihat; Yönetim Bilimleri Fakültesi, İşletme Bölümü
This study provides the first systematic and comprehensive mapping of peer-reviewed financial literacy research conducted in Turkey between 2011 and 2025. Following PRISMA guidelines and using the Rpackage bibliometrix, 25 articles indexed in Scopus and Web of Science were identified and analysed. The findings indicate a gradual but steady increase in publication activity, an annual growth rate of 8.16%, predominantly domestic collaboration patterns, and limited international co-authorship. Keyword analysis reveals that Turkish research has largely focused on financial behaviour, financial education, and demographic determinants, while topics such as digital finance literacy and sustainable finance literacy remain underexplored. The results also confirm low financial literacy levels across several Turkish population groups, consistent with international comparative evidence. By providing a replicable bibliometric baseline, this study clarifies the thematic evolution of the field, identifies structural research gaps, and outlines policy-relevant directions for strengthening financial capability in Turkey.
