Following the case of charsaf and face veiling, how different modernization perspectives are reflected in the arguments of Late Ottoman male intellectuals is one of the topic of thesis. Questions such as how different the Late Ottoman masculinities manifested themselves in the modernization perspectives specific to the veiling and face veiling issue are also discussed.Bu tezde, günümüzde de belirleyici bir rol oynamaya devam eden kadın giyimine ilişkin modernite ve toplumsal cinsiyet tartışmalarının yirminci yüzyıldaki kökleri incelenmektedir.
