This study is the second phase of developing of an Emotional Competency (EC) Module for Malaysian adolescents and aims to validate the resulting module. The outlines of the module activities are developed based on the findings of the first phase using both quantitative and qualitative methodology, including a survey research on adolescents and interview sessions with adolescents and professionals. The resulting EC module includes activities in four domains focusing on aspects of emotional competency, namely: self awareness; social awareness; self-management; relationship-management. The validity of the module is established using the method of content validity analysis. Seven professionals with experience in dealing with adolescents’ emotional issues were recruited to validate the module based on the suitableness, efficiency and representativeness of the activities’ content in each domain. The overall content validity is calculated based on the percentage of agreement between the professionals. The results indicated an overall validity rating of 85.6% and inter-rater reliability (α=0.706), providing evidence that the module is suitable for enhancing emotional competency. The findings of the validity study demonstrate that this module can be effective in handling emotional issues faced by adolescents, serving as a preventive measure to reduce emotional problems and assist in improving their psychological well-being.
