Impact of digital financial literacy on individual's experience of digital payment adoption: The case of Turkiye
(Borsa İstanbul Anonim Şirketi, 2026) El Amri, Mohamed Cherif; Omar Mohammed, Mustafa; Bekiroğlu, Ayman Mohammad
Türkiye's digital finance landscape has experienced substantial growth in recent years, with a surge in digital banking, mobile apps, and non-cash transactions. Yet, the literature has largely remained silent on the factors contributing to digital financial literacy in Türkiye. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the relationship between digital finance literacy and individual experience of digital payment adoption. It has employed a quantitative approach using an online questionnaire survey through Whatsapp groups registered in Türkiye. The analysis of three hundred and twenty useable questionnaires collected through convenience sampling was done using SPSS, and AMOS version 25 - a Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) technique. The results suggested positive relationships between personal experience and access to financial services, beliefs about digital financial services, and safety measures of digital financial services. The study's findings provide interesting insights of the progress of digital finance literacy in Türkiye.

Identifying critical export performance drivers through SWARA analysis: Internal vs. external factors
(MDPI, 2026) Kahveci, Eyüp; Toprak, Biset; Zaim, Selim; Yönetim Bilimleri Fakültesi, İşletme Bölümü
This study aims to identify and prioritize the key factors influencing export performance among Turkish exporters, based on the resource-based view (RBV) and industrial organization theory (IO), categorizing the factors as internal and external, and employing the Stepwise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis (SWARA). Twenty-five factors across Internal (IF) and External (EF) categories were evaluated through expert assessments. Results reveal that Internal Factors (58.0%) significantly dominate External Factors (42.0%), indicating that Turkish exporters possess substantial control over their export competitiveness. The top five critical factors are Management and Leadership (9.6%), Strategy (6.2%), Technological Change (5.3%), Industry and Sector Activity (5.0%), and Competitors (5.0%). Surprisingly, traditional factors such as firm size, international experience, and digitalization ranked much lower, challenging conventional assumptions about export success. A leave-one-out (LOO) sensitivity analysis further validated the robustness of these rankings, with Management and Leadership, and Strategy emerging as the most stable and dominant factors across all scenarios. The predominance of management and strategic factors over structural characteristics suggests that even smaller, less experienced companies can achieve export success through effective leadership and strategic planning. These findings contribute theoretically by supporting the notion that the resource-based view has a greater impact on export performance than the industrial organization theory, and they provide practical guidance for companies to focus on managerial and leadership skills, organizational capabilities, and strategic approaches to enhance export investments. The study presents the first comprehensive SWARA-based ranking of export performance factors in the Turkish context, providing empirical evidence to support the internal-external factor debate in the international business literature.

Childhood maltreatment and suicide Ideation in youth with depression
(İstanbul University Press, 2026) Songül, Derin; Genç, İbrahim; Selman Adıyaman, Saliha Büşra; İnsan ve Toplum Bilimleri Fakültesi, Psikoloji Bölümü
Background: Childhood maltreatment is consistently associated with adolescent depression and suicidal ideation. Ideation-to-action frameworks (Integrated Motivational-Volitional model; Three-Step Theory) propose that suicidal ideation is closely related to proximal states such as depression, whereas other volitional factors may be relevant to movement from ideation to behavior. We examined whether depression status statistically accounted for the association between maltreatment severity and suicide ideation in youth, while also estimating any remaining direct association. Methods: We analyzed 67 youths aged 11-18 years (M=15.7, SD=1.57). Cases were treatment-seeking outpatients with major depressive disorder (n=35), diagnosed by a child and adolescent psychiatrist using K-SADS-PL-DSM-5 interviews with youths and caregivers; controls (n=32) were community youths without K-SADS diagnoses. Participants completed the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form (CTQ-SF) and the Suicide Probability Scale (SPS) (suicide-ideation subscale), with depressive symptoms corroborated using the Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale-Major Depressive Disorder (RCADS-MDD) subscale. A path model estimated associations for maltreatment→depression status (a), depression status→ideation (b), and maltreatment→ideation directly (c′). Results: Depressed youths reported higher maltreatment and ideation than controls. Greater maltreatment severity was associated with depressed-group membership (a: β=0.167, p=0.003); depressed status was associated with higher ideation (b: β=1.102, p

The impact of communication & coordination between managers and departments on organizational performance: Case of a metropolitan district municipality
(Liberty Publishing House, 2026) Köpürür, İrfan; Aksoy, Tamer; Yönetim Bilimleri Fakültesi, İşletme Bölümü
This study aimed to examine and demographically analyze employees' perceptions of the impact of communication & coordination between managers and units on organizational performance, within the context of the information-communication internal control component of the COSO model, using the example of a metropolitan district municipality in İstanbul. The study investigated whether there was a significant relationship between employees' perceptions of the impact of communication & coordination between managers and departments on organizational performance. It also examined whether these perceptions differed according to demographic characteristics such as gender, age, education level, years of experience, position. Methodologically, a descriptive online survey method including a questionnaire was used to collect data. The survey was responded by 343 participants working in different departments and positions in the municipality. Data were analyzed using SPSS23. The questionnaire, which is suitable for a 5-point Likert scale, included statements regarding demographic characteristics and the impact of inter-managerial and interdepartmental communication & coordination on performance within the context of COSO's information-communication internal control component. The study concluded that there is a significant relationship between perceptions of communication & coordination between managers and departments and organizational performance. It also revealed that communication & coordination between managers and departments was found to have a positive impact on organizational performance. Furthermore, it was indicated that employees' perceptions did not vary according to demographic characteristics (i.e. gender, age, education level, years of service, position). The study is limited to the perceptions of 343 municipal employees. Therefore, it is recommended that similar studies be conducted with a larger number of municipalities and employees to obtain more general results.
