İmam Muhammed'in Muvatta Rivayeti'ndeki ihtilâfu'l-hadis yöntemi

The problem of infinite regress in the cosmological argument: An analysis of al-Ījī's Mawāqif (Mawqif II, Marşad V, Maqşad VIII)
(İbn Haldun Üniversitesi, Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü, 2025) Salsabila, Jehan; Doko, Enis
This paper aims to discuss the problem of infinite regress that arises out of the cosmological argument for theism in light of the views of the Persian theologian and philosopher Aḍud al-Dīn al-Ījī (1281–1355). I shall explore al-Ījī's argument against an infinite series of causes and effects (tasalsul al-'ilal wa al-ma'lūlāt ilā ghayr al-nihāya) in his primary work al-Mawāqif fī 'Ilm al-Kalām ('Positions in Theology'). The sort of approach I am taking is a critical analysis and comparative approach of sorts. I begin by presenting a brief sketch of the cosmological argument and the problem of infinite regress that arises out of it. Consequently, I will analyze, interpret, and evaluate al-Ījī's five arguments against the possibility of an infinite series of causes and effects presented in his Mawāqif in the section Mawqif II, Marsad V, Maqsad VIII. Apart from identifying the strengths and limitations of al-Ījī's reasons in comparison to other arguments for and against an infinite regress, possible objections to his argument shall also be addressed adequately.

The sources of Ahmadu Bamba's works on sufism
(İbn Haldun Üniversitesi, Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü, 2025) Mbacke, Khadim; Dumairieh, Naser
Ahmadu Bamba Mbacke, known as Khadīm ar-Rasūl (the Servant of the Messenger Muhammad), played a significant role in West African Islam's intellectual and spiritual history. As the founder of al-Murīdiyya Sufi order in Senegal, Bamba's teachings have influenced religious practices, emphasizing faith, devotion, and ethical conduct (iḥsān). This thesis explores Bamba's intellectual development, focusing on the historical contexts, influences, and contributions that shaped his Sufi thought. While the impact of al-Murīdiyya is recognized, Bamba's intellectual foundations have not been thoroughly examined. This study fills this gap by analyzing Bamba's engagement with classical Sufi literature and the intellectual figures that influenced him. It also discusses how Bamba adapted traditional Sufi teachings to the political and social realities of colonial Senegal. Through methods such as textual analysis, comparative studies, and consideration of historical context, this research provides a comprehensive examination of the role played by prominent historical scholars and influential texts in shaping Bamba's intellectual and spiritual development, while also offering insights into his contributions and the evolution of Sufism in response to historical challenges.

How does airport branding contribute to city image: The case of Istanbul Airport
(İbn Haldun Üniversitesi, Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü, 2022) Özay, Mariya; Tatoğlu, Ekrem
The present research was conducted to find out if there is any connection between tourists' branding perception of an airport and the image formed of the associated city after a visit, based on the case of Istanbul Airport, which opened in April 2019. The research sample was drawn from tourists from the Russian Federation who visited Istanbul Airport. A total of 106 respondents answered the questionnaire. A survey was conducted to measure the image of Istanbul held by tourists from the Russian Federation and the main attributes of the city's and airport's branding that are particularly important for them. Finally, the dependence between the quality of the airport branding and the perceived image of the city was evaluated. The data were analyzed by the IBM SPSS program through Descriptive statistics, Independent and Pair Sample t-tests, Factor analysis, Correlation matrix, and Regression analysis. The research established that Istanbul has a very strong positive image among Russian tourists. The factor analysis revealed the significant groups for the attributes of both Istanbul city and Istanbul Airport. Regression models showed the meaningful dependence of city perception and airport perception. This allows us to state that the branding attributes of the airport have a significant influence on the image of the city.

The mediating role of cognitive emotion regulation strategies in the relationship between childhood maltreatment and eating disorders
(İbn Haldun Üniversitesi, Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü, 2025) Özçiçek Nazır, Ayşe; Eruyar, Şeyda
Eating disorders (EDs) are severe psychological conditions that profoundly impact physical health, emotional well-being, and social functioning. These disorders predominantly manifest during adolescence and early adulthood. Although EDs primarily affect young women, there is a growing recognition of their prevalence across all genders and age demographics, often leading to serious long-term consequences. Childhood maltreatment (CM), a pervasive form of early-life adversity, has been consistently linked to a range of psychopathologies, including EDs. CM is also associated with disruptions in emotion-related processes and heightened difficulties in emotion regulation, both of which are closely tied to EDs. Despite these established relationships, the mediating role of cognitive emotion regulation strategies (CERS) between types of CM and EDs remains underexplored. This study aimed to examine the mediating role of adaptive and maladaptive CERS in the relationship between types of CM and EDs among the general population in Turkiye. A cross-sectional research design was employed, utilizing data obtained from a sample of 352 participants, predominantly female (89%), with a mean age of 29.55 years. Participants completed a sociodemographic questionnaire alongside validated measures, including the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ-33), the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ), and the Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q-13). A series of mediation analyses was conducted using the PROCESS Macro in SPSS version 29. The findings revealed that maladaptive CERS fully mediated the relationship between both sexual abuse and emotional neglect and EDs, whereas it partially mediated the relationship between other types of CM and EDs. However, adaptive CERS did not exhibit a mediating role between any types of CM and EDs. These results highlight the critical role of maladaptive CERS in the link between CM and EDs, emphasizing the need for interventions aimed at reducing reliance on maladaptive strategies.
