An application of quadratic EKC model: Energy use, economic development, and environmental quality for Thailand

This study examines the validation the relationship of environmental and energy for Thailand. Further this study examined the impact of economic growth, non-renewable and renewable energy and FDI on environment, with the help of time series data from 1990 to 2018 with ecological damage indicator, i.e., emission of carbon dioxide (CO2). This study applied Autoregressive (ARDL) Distributed Lag model for testing the cointegration in the model. In the long run, the results of this study confirm the existence of cointegration in the model. However, the negative effect of growth on the environment confirms the existence of the Kuznets Environmental Curve (EKC), which means that economic growth harms Thailand’s environment. Renewable energy and foreign direct investment are the key aspects that reduce environmental degradation in Thailand during the study period. Therefore, the government must redouble its efforts to reduce carbon dioxide CO2 emissions, perhaps through regulatory intervention or mandatory renewable energy applications for individual household and industrial segments. For example, the manufacturing sectors, iron, and steel must prioritize, reducing the high non-renewable energy consumption for those which are renewable. The government must introduce specific measures and campaigns for environmental protection for future generations as well as introduce taxes for polluters. Another relevant recommendation is to create an industry that relies on low energy consumption compared to high productivity levels.

Impact of renewable energy consumption and health expenditure on air pollutants: Implications for sustainable development in ASEAN countries

This study examined the association between economic development and environmental degradation in the presence of health expenditure and renewable energy for selected 6 ASEAN nations covering the period of 2000 to 2018. Before estimating the model, firstly check the stationary of variables for this purpose Levin Lin Chu unit root applied, results indicate that all variables are stationary at level. GMM is efficient in eliminating fixed/random effects in the model and overcoming the problem of endogeneity. For causal analysis, we used Granger causality test. The results indicate a bidirectional association between the consumption of energy and carbon emission. There exists a uni-directional association among Economic development, expenditure on health, and environmental degradation. GMM results indicate that spending on the health sector and the consumption of renewable energy sectors decline the environmental degradation level; on the other hand, economic growth boosts the ASEAN nations' carbon emission level. The study's recommendation is to increase the level of economic development by enhancing the energy sector from nonrenewable energy to renewable energy. As it boosts the level of economic growth, which ultimately improves health development and technologies, which will strengthen the health facilities in the nation and reduce the level of carbon production that helps keep the environment healthy and clean.

Integrating artificial intelligence and strategic agility for enhancing sustainable innovation in post-COVID SMEs

This study examines how Artificial Intelligence Capabilities (AI), Strategic Agility (SA), and Organizational Learning (OL) influence Sustainable Innovation (SI) among manufacturing SMEs in China after the mediating role of Knowledge Management (KM) and the moderating role of Top Management Support (TMS). 300 managers from SME groups were subjected to a structured questionnaire, and the data were processed by SmartPLS 4. It has turned out that AI, SA, and OL exert significant positive effects on KM, as the latter strongly predicts SI. KM acts as a mediator between AI, SA, OL, and SI; TMS positively moderates the relationships between AI and SI. The findings complement the dynamic capability theory and provide practical recommendations on how internal capabilities and support from the leadership can be used for sustainability-oriented innovation in SMEs.

Coping with hostile discrimination: The roles of self-advocacy, positive psychology, and unconscious bias training in higher education

The research on Coping with Hostile Discrimination through Self-Advocacy, Positive Psychology in Higher Education, and Unconscious-Bias Training mainly emphasizes on encountering issues related to hostile Discrimination leads to the development of negative feelings in the minds of female students, such as self-doubt due to which their aspirations related to careers also get negatively impacted. There is a lack of research studies regarding the importance of selfadvocacy for dealing with the problem of hostile Discrimination. Moreover, in the previous empirical studies, the concept of unconscious bias training is also lacking, due to which their role in dealing with the pertinent issue is not clear. However, the concept of positive psychology has been referred to in the previous literature for dealing with hostile Discrimination. Hostile Discrimination leads to negative experiences in women's lives, such as the symptoms of depression and anxiety, along with reduced self-esteem in them. To conduct this research, a quantitative based study has been used. The sample size has been set at 345, and a margin for blank questionnaires has also been established. There were 320 fully completed questionnaires submitted by the respondents, which helped with the analysis and production of the results. This study has chosen a conventional sample size, aiding in reliable data. After the data collection and analysis, results indicated a significant relationship between positive psychology in higher education and hostile Discrimination. Whereas unconscious-bias training insignificantly moderates the relationship between self-advocacy and hostile Discrimination. The mediating impact of self-advocacy between positive psychology in higher education and hostile Discrimination was also significant. Apart from increasing the knowledge of the constructs under study, the present research has also been effective in practical implications. The present study has encouraged the management of various universities to take important measures to promote positive psychology in higher education. Fewer resources have forced the present study to focus only on Chinese universities. Future researchers could overcome this by integrating the universities from developed countries in the context of the present study.

The impact of green technology adoption and dynamic capabilities on green competitive advantage and sustainable development: Moderating role of organizational commitment

Sustainable development (SD) is the foremost requirement for the environmental sustainability and this aspect needs the attention of recent studies and policymakers. Hence, the present study examines the impact of green technology adoption (GTA), green dynamic capabilities (GDC) on the green competitive advantage (GCA) and SD of manufacturing companies in China. The study also investigates the mediating role of GCA among GTA, dynamic capabilities and SD and also checks the moderating role of organizational commitment among GCA and SD. The study gets the primary data from the employees of manufacturing companies in China using survey questionnaires. The study also used the smart-PLS to check the nexus among the variables. The outcomes indicated that the GTA and dynamic capabilities has a positive association with GCA and SD. The outcomes also exposed that the GCA significantly mediates and organizational commitment significantly moderates among variables. The study provides the guidelines to the policymakers in making the policies related to enhance the SD using GTA and dynamic capabilities.
